はじめに上北山村は、加速する過疎化の中で人口が激減しています。それは、とりもなおさず児童・生徒数減に拍車をかけるということになっています。
このような状況の中で、効率よく質の高い教育を進めるため、小・中学校一貫教育に向けて取り組みを進めています。現在は、小学校・中学校の
校舎が遠く離れていることからその進展が思うに任せないのですが、平成22年度より教育課程特例校の指定を受け小中学校に教科として「国際科」
を創設し、小中一貫教育に向けて一歩を踏み出しました。
Introduction
Kamikitayama Village is in the middle of an ever-accelerating rapid population decrease.
The diminishing numbers of young children and students are only adding momentum to this problem.
Owing to these current circumstances, in order to effectively promote quality education the elementary and junior high schools are now
leaning towards an integrated education program between the two schools.
Presently, because of the physical distance between the elementary school and the junior high school, despite a strong desire for integrated
education it is not completely possible at this time.
Still, since 2010 Kamikitayama Village has become a special exception to the normal school curriculum rules with the creation of its
"International Department". This is an important step towards integrated education between the schools.
国際科とは中学生に入って初めて体験する英語科に早い段階で慣れ親しませる意味で小学校での外国語活動をさらに充実させ、小１から「国際科」の中で
英会話学習や国際交流に取り組んでいます。また、中学校で行う「読む」「書く」の学習の基礎的な内容を小学校高学年段階で取り入れるなど、
「英語科」への接続が滑らかに行える工夫をしながら９年間の系統立てた指導を行えるように検討を進めています。「国際科」を通してコミュニ
ケーション能力を高めることも目標にしています。本村のようなへき地小規模校にとって子どもたちの社会性の育成は重要な課題であり、そのた
めには、様々な人々との交流が求められます。
国際科における国際理解教育及び情報教育をその手立てとして社会性を育成し、将来国際社会の中で社会人としてたくましく生きていく力を身に
付けさせたいと考えてます。このようなねらいを持って、本校の国際科においては、英語活動を中心とした「異文化理解」、郷土（主に、上北山村）
の自然や伝統文化を中心とした「自文化理解」、そのための様々な情報の収集・発信のための「情報教育」、これら３つの柱として多様かつ創造的
な活動を展開していきます。
What is the International Department?
Instead of junior high school being their first personal experience with English,students are introduced to the English language from elementary
school which allows them to be comfortable with the language from an early stage.Starting from the time children are first grade elementary
school students and continuing throughout their grade school education,the International Department allows for various English conversational
study and international exchange activities.
Moreover, the teaching of the fundamental concepts of reading and writing Englishbeing practiced at the junior high school are also being
adopted by the upper grades at the elementary school.
The English Department aims to smoothly carry out this method of study which links the twoschools.
During the 9 yearsin which the students complete their elementary and junior high school education, the English Department will continue to
examine the effectivenss of this new system of English education.
Of coures it is also a goal of the International Department to improve ability to communicate in English, and with that social communication
as a wholle.
Concerning the tiny svhools of this village whish is located in such a remote place, the social training of the children living here is an important
task. In order to accomplish this, exchange with various types of people is necessary.
The International Department's programs of "Inter national Understanding Education" as well as "Informational Education" are methods of
teaching social cultivation, and the hope is that in the future students educated in Kamikitayama Village will be to communicate well with any
type of person as an upstanding member of society in regards to the world as a whole.
With this aim in mind, the International Department puts English activities as the emphasis of the "Cultural Understanding" aspect of the
program and the traditional culture of one's birthplace (primarily Kamikitayama Village) as the emphasis of the "Understanding One's Own
Culture" aspect of the program. To realize these goals various information is being collected and shared through the "Informational Education"
aspect of the program.
These aspects of the program make up the educational pillars which allow for the development of various creative activities.
国際科の内容① 異文化理解を通しての「国際科」
異文化理解のために、価値観の多様性を知る学習として外国の人々との交流を進めます。ALTを通して外国の文化を学ぶのみならず、我が国や奈
良県を訪問される外国人を招いての交流やインターネットを活用した海外との交流など幅広い活動により、外国の言語や文化に対する理解を深め、
進んでコミュニケーションを図ろうとする態度を育て、子どもたちが交流の場を積極的に求める意欲や態度につなげていきたいと思っています。
また、小学校段階から英語に触れさせ、慣れ親しませることは、コミュニケーション能力や表現力を育てる上でも、そして国際理解を深める上でも
大変重要な体験となります。世界の共通語としての英語を中心とした外国語活動を重視し、「国際科」の創設によって、小学校高学年からの外国語
活動をさらに小学校低学年から英会話に親しませていく系統的、継続的、全体的な活動計画を立てていきます。また、そのことにより児童生徒の発
達段階や学習達成度を考慮した中学校の英語との滑らかな接続を目指します。
International Department Contents
① Intercultural Understanding of the International Department
To help with intercultural understanding, exchange with foreign people is being promoted as a way of learning to understand diverse values.
With the use of an ALT not only is foreign culture being studied, but we are also doing things like encouraging exchange with foreigners
visiting Japan or Nara Prefecture, and the use of the internet for foreign exchange . Through these activities the importance of understanding
foreign language and culture as well as an attitude towards the expansion of foreign communication is being promoted, and it is believed that
this will lead to the students actively pursuing this kind of cultural exchange in the future.
Furthermore, it has been officially announced that students will be familiarized with the English language from elementary school.
From cultivating a certain level of communication, to the power to express themselves in English, to allowing for a better understanding of
international matters, this way of study will become a very important personal experience for the students. As the common language of the
world, English will of course be at the heart of this program of study,with a stress on foreign language activities. As a result of the
establishment of the International Department, the foreign language activities being practiced by the upper elementary school grades will,
more and more, be integrated into the curriculum of the lower elementary school grades, and even those younger children will be systematically
and continuously immersed in English conversation to achieve the goalof participating in activities that pertain to the whole world.
As a result of the above, taking into account things like the developmental stage and level of academic achievement of the students,
the International Department aims for a smooth connection between junior high school and elementary school English.
② 自文化理解「ふるさと学習」のための「国際科」
本校では地域の課題に取り組み、本校の特色を生かした「ふるさと学習」を「国際科」の中で展開していきます。少子高齢化が進む本村の地域
・学校課題から「ふるさとを愛し、誇りを持って、たくましく生きる子どもの育成」のために小中学校が連携して取り組む「ふるさと学習」は欠
かせません。上北山村は、ユネスコ世界遺産に登録されていて、自然に恵まれ、歴史的文化的価値の高い年中行事も多い村です。また、小さい村
であることから村民としてのまとまりがあり、学校教育への関心も高く協力的です。このことから地域の人々や関係諸機関と密接な連携を取り地
域の人材を活用することで、自然や地域社会を生かした独自の学習が展開できる環境にあるといえます。これまでも、環境省の協力を得ての大台
ケ原の動植物を調べる自然環境学習や村の歴史研究家の指導を受けての大峰奥駈道を辿る歴史学習、また北山川の生物や川の源流を探る学習、保
育園児や高齢者との交流など、小・中学校でそれぞれ総合的な学習を中心に様々な実践がなされてきました。
小中一貫教育推進に当たり、これまでの小中学校の実践を財産として系統的に組み立てていくとともに、新しく本村の自然や文化を教材化してい
き地域の支援を受けながら多様な学習を展開していきます。「ふるさと学習」を通して、郷土を知り郷土を愛し誇りに思う子どもの育成を目指し
たいと思っています。
③ 「自文化」を発信できる力を育てる「情報教育」のための国際科
現代社会において重要かつ不可欠なコミュニーケーションツールであるコンピュータを活用し、小さい村だからこそ出来る教育活動すなわち
「国際科」の中で、「情報教育」と「ふるさと学習」を軸に、情報機器を活用し、伝え合う力（コミュニケーション能力）を高めます。そして
この地域から発し、しっかりと人と人が、そして、国と国とがつながっていく教育活動を展開します。
令和5年度の活動報告 一本たたらの劇
本年度の国際科のふるさと学習では、上北山に伝わる「一本たたら」の伝説を児童生徒で劇にして、2学期に行われる「ふれあい祭」で保護者や地域の方々に発表することに取り組みました。
後期課程の生徒が中心となって1学期から活動を進めていきました。後期課程の生徒が作った台本をベースに、役割分担を行ったり、上北山弁を取り入れ、アレンジを加えたり、自分たちで小道具を考えそれをみんなで製作するなど、児童生徒全員が主体的に、上北山村について発信できるような劇になるように取り組みを進めていきました。
１学期の終盤からは、体育館での練習が始まりました。最初は、声の大きさやスピードなど、なかなか上手くいかないこともたくさんありました。しかし、練習を重ね、自分たちで改善点を考えたり、先生方からのアドバイスを取りいれたりすることで、日に日に上達していきました。
「ふれあい祭」が近づくにつれ、実際に衣装を着て練習を行ったり、練習の中で見えてきた必要な役割分担なども行ったりしながら、力を合わせて完成度を上げていきました。そして当日。それぞれがベストを尽くし、劇を行うことができました。保護者の方々や地域の方々からの拍手など多くの方から賞賛をいただきました。
今回の活動を通して、自分たちの力で１つの物を作り上げ、上北山村に伝わる伝説を知るというとても大きな学びを得ることができたのではないかと思います。

北山宮秋祭り 神楽「唐獅の舞」奉納
11月3日、小橡の北山宮秋祭りにおいて神楽「唐獅の舞」を奉納しました。
これをもって、今年度神楽の取り組みは終了です。しかし、3年生を除く新メンバーでの初披露、つまり
来年度へのスタートともなりました。1,2年生9名のうち1年生が7名ということで、初々しい奉納となりました。

International Department Student Summary 2010
The first thing the students of Kamikitayama Junior High School are working on for the International Department is explaining one aspect of
the traditional culture of their hometown, a performance called "Kagura"also known as the Lion Dance.
